Understanding Grief & Loss

Grief and Loss are natural responses to losing someone or something significant, such as a loved one, job, or relationship. It is normal to experience a range of emotions, including sadness, anger, guilt, and acceptance, after a loss

Prolonged Grief

Prolonged Grief occurs when the intensity of grief does not ease over time and significantly impairs daily life. This condition may involve persistent longing for the deceased, difficulty accepting the loss, and an inability to resume normal activities.

Examples of Prolonged Grief:

  • Experiencing intense longing and sadness that doesn’t diminish over time.

  • Being unable to accept the loss and feeling stuck in the grieving process.

  • Struggling to resume daily activities and feeling disconnected from others.

Examples of normal grief:

  • Mourning the death of a loved one.

  • Feeling heartbroken after a breakup.

  • Struggling with the loss of a job or a pet.
